  1. It’s hot in the city

    June 26, 2011 by erin

A Spanish heatwave has hit London – thanks for that weather man – i’m about 2 degrees off melting point! Can’t complain – it’s Sunday, it’s summer and this is a very rare chance to get a hint of colour on my English Rose skin. Was supposed to bake cakes today, but it’s me that’s baking instead.

  2. The beginning – but will I stay committed?

    June 25, 2011 by erin

After months of deliberating about starting a blog, it has finally happened. I needed a forum to write in but just didn’t know what I wanted to write about. The inspiration has come from a very recent “monumental” milestone in my life – moving in with the other half. I’ve thrown myself into becoming a “domestic darling” – baking, cleaning, organising and decorating my new abode to make it as homely as possible. Tough feat when home is literally on the other side of the world (ex-pat New Zealander I am) but I’ve got enough kiwiana to sink a ship, so it’s getting there. I must add that we have a few union jack items around the place (can get union jack everything in London) to balance out the kiwi/pom vibe – let’s just say you can definitely tell by appearances that we’re an international house.
So we’re about three weeks in and it’s definitely feeling “homely” – I’m nesting quite nicely thanks to the removal of the hideous green curtains (ick) and adding in a new set of shelves for our CD’s/DVD’s and cookbooks. Now that I can see them, I have this persistant urge to add to my collections – the latest addition to my cookbook stack is Peyton and Byrne – a beautiful lavender baking book with oodles of gorgeous images and recipes. I can’t wait to test out some of the creations – will post any good recipes as I work my way through them.

Oh and as per the title – I hope to stay committed to updating this blog – one thing I do lack is an addictive personality – I’ll get obsessed momentarily (as in, obsessed with a thing – lately it’s anything by Pip Studio) but as soon as I have it, I’ll get bored and move on. Luckily it only applies to things and not people!
